EXECUTION
The arrangement for Dialectic #1 was created primarily using Ableton Live. Live was responsible for all of the multitrack recording and much of the signal processing. Inside of Live there were a number of different elements which I will outline below:
- Heartbeat - The heartbeat signal was generated using a lavalier microphone placed into a stethoscope. The signal from the lavalier was then fed into Live
- Brainwaves - The signal from the brainwaves was generated using the OpenEEG project. The signal was fed into into the software BioExplorer which filtered it, analyzed it, and then output MIDI volume messages based on the amplitude of the signals. These MIDI messages were then used to degrade the heartbeat audio by changing granular parameters of it and also reducing its sample rate.
- Rhodes - The Rhodes part was recorded by me using a Nord Electro from Clavia.
- Percussion - The percussion was creating using the Sinebeats Ensemeble for Reaktor.
- Additional sounds - Additional sounds (bass + noise) were creating using the FM synthesis plugin Operator.
